How To Find Good Techno Music - House, Trance, Dubstep, Electro

The Whomping Shop

So I just watched True Grit and was inspired to write a techno blog. Seems completely normal to me. First of all, I want to say, I love the camera work in Cohen brothers movies, but there is always a major part of the film that really bothers me. In True Grit, I couldn't stand the ending, but the rest was pretty enjoyable, see it and make your own opinions. But anyway, Techno! There are really endless classifications of techno from trance to neo-electronic house drumstep (exaggerating here, but I bet you could find some DJ that classifies their music in that way).

This is the beauty of techno.  There are so many niches to find within the community, and endless sounds to uncover.  Nothing is untouched in techno, and everything is remixable.

The Blogs To Use

Chubbybeavers -First of all. Great name right there. Very catchy and maybe sexual somehow...I haven't looked it up on urban dictionary yet to find out. This site offers very easy to download links and has some great text to go along with some great pictures. The site is extremely informative and really fun to navigate.

Salacious Sound -A little more difficult to navigate, and not as many frequent posts, but they make up for it in great groupings of mixes in their "subpages" or whatever you call links within a website. They will organize tracks into countdowns like "Best Robyn Remixes" or "Best Dubstep of 2010".

GottaDanceDirty -Not really the type of techno music that I am into but that doesn't mean that this site isn't for you. What I love about this one is the sweet logos they have with the Egyptian Sphinx incorporated in their logo and throughout the site. Of course the name of the blog is pretty darn good as well.

PostMusic.org -This site rarely posts new music but when they do, they really DUMP it on you with a incredible block of tracks.  If these guys would post music more often, this blog would definitely be my favorite out of them all.

The Wet Blog -Tough format, but it is a Tumblr. It isn't the most asthetically pleasing site, but it does get the job done. I want to classify the music it provides as very similar to the type of music that GottaDanceDirty provides. You just have to get used to the blogs to know what I'm talking about.

Spin The Disc -Pretty sure this one is just a high school entrepreneur. The music selected can be a little dated but every now and then the kid will find some bangers. I found Pendulum's The Island remixed by F.O.O.L. on there which continues to blow my mind. Just because a blog isn't big time doesn't mean that the blogger doesn't know their music. Does that make sense or are there too many doesn't/do/did words. Whatever, I'm not changing it so figure it out!

FreshNewTracks - See my site description on my good hip-hop music blog. The link can be found at the bottom of the page.

Go To Some RAVES/nightclubs/concerts

Concerts are always fun but any kind of techno concert will always beat any kind of hip-hop/rock concert. The atmosphere, the lights, the sound systems, are all part of the experience. You can listen to tracks all you want in your home but you can't feel the music until you are there at a live venue where you feel connected to the music. If you are self conscious at all you are going to need to let that go to have a great time there. You can't have a good time at one of these things if you are thinking too much about whats happening, and this is coming from someone who over-analyzes everything. LET GO, do whatever you need to, to get yourself to let go, and have a great time partying ;)
